Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone Slated to Produce Upcoming MISS PIGGY Movie

A Miss Piggy Movie is On the Horizon
Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone have teamed up to bring a movie to the screen based on the popular female Muppet, Miss Piggy.
That immensely famous and distinguished feminist hog, Miss Piggy, is now getting her own movie thanks to Academy Award winning actresses Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence who will be joining forces to produce a movie about Kermit the Frog’s significant other. Lawrence thinks it would be humorous if Miss Piggy were to be “canceled,” but she suggests that is not what the new film is going to be about.
Stone and Lawrence are currently vying for Oscar nominations in the Best Actress category for their powerhouse work in two films, Bugonia and Die My Love, respectively. While they could “cancel” each other out on voter’s ballots thanks to the dark nature of their new pictures, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel thanks to the news of the upcoming Miss Piggy project.
Tony winner Cole Escola is writing the script for the new movie based on Miss Piggy. The famous female pig made her initial appearance on The Muppet Show almost fifty years ago and Disney has plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jim Henson’s popular program with a television celebration featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
Miss Piggy is known for her larger-than-life personality and Lawrence has suggested that she and Stone could be in front of the camera in roles in the new picture. Though they are producing, one cannot rule out the possibility of these Oscar winners “hogging” a little bit of the spotlight themselves and taking a little credit themselves for this idea by appearing to viewers of the film in the flesh (or as Muppets, who knows?).
Seth Rogen is also looking to do a polish on The Muppets as well with a new “refresh” so this is all very exciting news for fans of these beloved characters. Kermit the Frog has been a staple in memes all over the internet for years and it will be interesting to see him, Miss Piggy and the rest of the crew (Animal, etc.) getting in their groove again next year for the anniversary party and to, eventually, star in the upcoming movie. No release date has been officially set yet for the film.
If you need to see the producers in action performing in front of the camera sooner, Lawrence and Stone’s latest Oscar-bait dramas, Die My Love and Bugonia, are now playing on the big screen for the Academy’s consideration, of course. Lawrence thinks the cancel culture concept that came about during the pandemic is interesting and has stated that it would be “funny” if Miss Piggy were “cancelled.” We’ll see if that idea plays into the upcoming film in any way, shape or form as more details on the project are revealed at a later date.
