Zac Efron to Take on Two Parts in Upcoming Movie
Zac Efron is set to play the role of a popular actor and his doppelganger in a forthcoming A24 movie aptly titled, Famous.
Jody Hill is set to direct the new project, Famous, that will star Efron who has been in some good performances throughout his career, most notably his turns in The Greatest Showman and A24’s own, The Iron Claw. Famous is expected to be a psychological drama that centers on a man hungry for success called Lance Dunkquist who heads to LA to try to make it. This guy looks a lot like a Hollywood movie star named James Jansen. You could almost imagine what a movie like this will have in store for audiences when you take into consideration it will be from the prestigious and groundbreaking studio, A24. It is sure to have a dark edge and a great leading turn by Efron who excels in playing new types of characters that he’s never portrayed before.
It is no surprise Efron has taken on the challenge to play the parts of both Lance and James. This is the type of ambitious role(s) that the actor, Efron, is known to take on fearlessly. In The Iron Claw, which focused on wrestling, Efron expertly played an athlete struggling with the loss of his family members and the consequences of working in a competitive and aggressive sport. Efron handled the role with great depth and sensitivity. Some can argue he came pretty close to an Oscar nomination for his nuanced performance. Considering the potency of Efron’s work in the picture, it was a surprise he didn’t get the nod.
One of Efron’s most effective mainstream roles was opposite Hugh Jackman in 2017’s musical box-office hit, The Greatest Showman. Efron charmed and delighted viewers and got to play magically on-screen with actress Zendaya (who’s being touted as a potential Oscar-nominee this year for Challengers) before the height of her popularity took off with her work in the successful Spider-Man: No Way Home film. Efron and Zendaya were terrific together but so were Efron and Jackman in the wonderfully made musical.
Famous is being helmed by Jody Hill, as previously stated. Chad Hodge will pen the script for the picture. Though movies about doppelgangers are usually pretty obscure, A24 promises to make Famous a wicked thriller for those willing to take a dive into a world that is going to be explored by a character looking to make a name for himself in LA. Efron is already a Hollywood star so playing one of the characters in Famous shouldn’t be hard. It’s the second role he will play in the movie which will have audiences analyzing his performance in the upcoming picture.
