FREAKY FRIDAY 2: Jamie Lee Curtis Pitches Sequel to Box-Office Hit That Could Reunite Her With Lindsay Lohan

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan Would Board a Freaky Friday 2

Jamie Lee Curtis humorously pitched a Freaky Friday sequel which could reunite her with old co-star, Lindsay Lohan.

In 2003, a remake of Freaky Friday graced the silver screen and was a huge box-office smash grossing an astonishing $110 million at the domestic box-office and earning a solid “A-” CinemaScore grade. That movie, directed by the always interesting Mark Waters, should have gotten a sequel much earlier than now but it never happened.

These days, Jamie Lee Curtis is appearing in this week’s big release, Halloween Ends, which has relaunched her into the limelight again and Curtis admits that she has pitched the idea of a sequel to Freaky Friday to Disney. Curtis has a standing relationship with Disney and is currently in their upcoming movie, Haunted Mansion.

The big news, however, is that Lindsay Lohan is said to be interested in the possibility of reuniting with Curtis for the sequel to Freaky Friday. Curtis was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the 2003 movie for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical while that aforementioned picture also helped solidify Lohan’s stardom in Hollywood when she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair with several other “it” girls around the time of the 2003 film’s release. It would be great to see these two talents get back together after the passage of time.

Curtis would love to see Lindsay Lohan playing the role of a grandmother because the story line would consist, once again, of Curtis and Lohan’s characters switching places. It seems Curtis is also interested in bringing the versatile Mark Harmon from the 2003 movie back on board as well.

While the whole idea of a Freaky Friday sequel is just speculative at this particular point in time, the concept seems like a sure-fire recipe for a box-office hit or yet another successful Disney Plus endeavor. Jamie Lee Curtis will be bidding farewell to her Halloween fans if this week’s release, Halloween Ends, lives up to the promise of the movie’s title. That would lead Curtis back to lighter material again for the second Freaky Friday movie.

Let’s not forget Curtis is currently in the running for a potential Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod for her work in Everything Everywhere All at Once while Lohan has a holiday themed Netflix movie coming out this year as well. That movie titled Falling for Christmas would be the perfect segue for Lohan to do a comedy for Disney like Freaky Friday 2. Let’s hope to see these two stars back in action in a sequel that could also bring back the fun director of the original Mark Waters!
