Glen Powell’s New Comedy Lands Title
Glen Powell‘s upcoming Country Western comedy from director Judd Apatow has been titled The Comeback King.
Don’t try to pigeonhole Glen Powell (Twisters) into one specific type of movie role at this point in his career. He’s had quite the past year or so as he starred in diverse films recently such as The Running Man and How to Make a Killing and he even voiced a character in the brand-new smash, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Now, he’s teamed with legendary director Judd Apatow for a different type of comedy titled, The Comeback King.
Cristin Milioti of The Penguin fame is also going to be prominently featured in The Comeback King as well and anyone who has seen Milioti’s work on The Penguin will know she’s certainly an actress to contend with. While she will hopefully play off Powell’s unique talents in the upcoming 2027 Apatow film, the picture has an unusually intriguing premise at its core with Powell taking on the role of a Country Music star who is facing some real-life hurdles. Expect laughs to be prominent under Apatow’s assured guidance.
Apatow is the funnyman behind smash adult-themed hits like Knocked Up and This is 40 and The Comeback King promises to bring out Powell’s humorous side again which was so prominent in movies like Anyone but You and Hit Man. The same studio behind Apatow’s own two aforementioned movies, Universal Pictures, will be backing the new comedy due out in theaters February 5, 2027, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Also co-starring in the movie will be Madelyn Cline so expect a lot of big things to happen at the box-office for this upcoming comedy picture with her on board. Cline co-starred in films like the recent I Know What You Did Last Summer, but her really terrific talents were on full display in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery from several years back. With Powell, Cline and Milioti on board, this will be one of the most anticipated comedies of the first quarter of 2027.
The Comeback King is going to be quite the funny comedy. Apatow has been itching for another great movie like Knocked Up to end up under his belt these days and with the talented cast assembled for the forthcoming film, Apatow may finally have a film that will put him back in the spotlight where he found himself after Knocked Up became an instantaneous success at the box-office in 2007. Powell is certainly a big comedy movie star of the moment as Anyone but You solidified back in 2023. We just don’t know where the romance will lie in the new picture quite yet as the film begs the question as to who will be the love interest for Powell this time out?
