Matt Damon Takes Over Role Originally Slated for Ryan Gosling in Upcoming Film

Matt Damon To Be Featured in Upcoming Universal Picture

Matt Damon is taking over a role originally meant for Ryan Gosling in a forthcoming film from Universal and the Oscar-winning filmmakers, The Daniels.

Matt Damon is going to be “everything, everywhere all at once” with the new big movie, The Odyssey, set to open in mid-July. That Christopher Nolan tentpole film is likely to land Damon another Best Actor Oscar nomination. In the meantime, while Damon waits for that Academy Award nod, he’ll start shooting his next collaboration with Universal later this summer – a picture set to be directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. That project is most likely going to go before the cameras towards the end of the summer.

Ryan Gosling originally was set to appear in the movie that Damon has just been cast in. Unfortunately, Gosling couldn’t make the project (helmed by the Daniels) a “go.” Now, it’s Damon’s turn to chew into the meaty role that Gosling turned down in the Oscar-winning Daniels duo (for Everything Everywhere All at Once)’s latest film. That untitled upcoming project’s plot is being kept strictly confidential for the time being, according to key sources.

Damon is a true movie star through and through. From Good Will Hunting to Air, he has consistently surprised movie-goers with thoughtful and earnest performances in the films he has chosen to star in thus far. All bets are off when The Odyssey is officially released this summer. Can Damon take home his first Oscar for acting for his turn in Christopher Nolan’s epic picture?

Even Damon’s tremendous talents can’t give audiences too much exact detail as to just how good Damon will be in the upcoming Nolan picture. However, many insiders think Damon has an Oscar nod for Best Actor in the bag already.

If Damon doesn’t get the nod, one may be forthcoming for him for the new Daniels film which will be released by Universal – the same studio as The Odyssey. This exciting new role Damon will be taking on in the latest Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once) movie has people and fans in great anticipation. It’s not entirely clear if this will mark another gem from the Daniels or a disappointing follow up to an Oscar-winning movie. Either way, Damon will most likely be great yet again.

Ryan Gosling doesn’t have to lose too much sleep in regard to losing his role to Damon in the next film by the Daniels. That’s because Gosling is coming off Project Hail Mary, one of the year’s most critically acclaimed box-office hits. Gosling and Damon may be facing off against one another at next year’s Oscars’ ceremony for Best Actor and it’ll be a fight to the finish, for sure!
