Reese Witherspoon and Build-A-Bear Developing Upcoming Family Film

Reese Witherspoon‘s company, Hello Sunshine, is developing a most-likely animated film version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears alongside Build-A-Bear.

Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon’s production company, is going to be producing its first feature from its kids and animation arm. It will be the beloved fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. However, the even more interesting news is that the 25-years-running toy store Build-A-Bear’s entertainment division will be producing the film alongside Hello Sunshine. This feature film will be showcasing Goldilocks as a female character that kids will be able to look up to and admire. It’s probably going to be following in the footsteps of Disney’s animated princess characters by showcasing Goldilocks as a movie heroine that kids will adore.

This film will provide an opportunity for Build-A-Bear Workshops to have merchandise from a popular film in its inventory as per the way the Disney store operates. This upcoming creative project will help give some of the Build-A-Bear toy stores’ merchandise a lot of selling power if the movie takes off the way movies like Disney’s Aladdin or Frozen did. This could even become a movie franchise if all goes well.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears is the story of a woman who, while on a walk, enters the house of three bears when they are away. Obviously, anyone who remembers the fairy tale knows she is presented in the home with three bowls of porridge. They are at varying degrees in terms of temperature which she discovers by tasting all three. She also tries the bears’ chairs and beds. She moves onto ones which are too small, too big, and then, finally, just right. We don’t know how, at this point, the material will be developed into a feature length movie but the project is in the works and has a lot of potential to be turned into a profitable endeavor.

Most recently, Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine produced the hit movie, Where the Crawdads Sing, which over-performed at the box-office with an incredible domestic take of $90 million and ran all summer long at movie theaters throughout the country. It also earned an amazing “A-” CinemaScore despite mixed reviews from film critics.

While Goldilocks and the Three Bears is certain to create cute and marketable merchandise, it remains to be seen if the concept of the classic fairy tale can be successfully stretched into a feature length movie although with the combined efforts of Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Build-A-Bear Entertainment, the results will most likely be awe-inspiring.
