Kevin Costner’s Teenage Son Joins Western Film

Kevin Costner‘s son, Hayes, has come onboard the movie Horizon which is set to be made in four parts, the first of which has been completed.

Kevin Costner’s son, Hayes, is just 13-years-old but he has come aboard the high profile director’s film, Horizon. Costner joked recently that the script for the film is older than Hayes himself. Costner has deemed his son’s acting abilities as “very good,” according to a recent article in People. Of course, casting Hayes in the highly anticipated new Western movie would be beneficial to the director being able to spend more time with his son since they will be working together on set.

Hayes is one of seven of the acclaimed filmmaker’s children and one of four boys in the set of kids. It’s a matter of being able to spend time with his family that may have led to Hayes’ casting but because Costner believes in the young man’s talents, he may just launch a career for Hayes that will be similar to the one his dad had.

The first part of the movie Horizon has been completed with the second part ready to roll this upcoming spring. The cast couldn’t showcase more prolific talents. Isabelle Fuhrman, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Luke Wilson, Will Patton, Danny Huston, Thomas Haden Church, Michael Rooker and Jeff Fahey are just some of the names attached to the project.

Horizon is a passion project for Kevin Costner who is ready to keep going with the other three parts of the film even considering the significant artistic challenges that he faced while working on the first part. He claimed it was the hardest thing he had ever done.

Costner won an Oscar for making the epic 1990 Western movie, Dances with Wolves. Another movie that was huge was the actor’s pairing with Whitney Houston in 1992’s The Bodyguard. Though he’s had a few flops along the way (see: Wyatt Earp, Waterworld), he’s recently been quite successful in television. Currently, he recently worked on a docu-series caled Yellowstone One-Fifty which talks about the unique past of Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.

What does Hayes’ casting in Horizon mean for the movie, though? It signifies that the picture should be partially a family affair with some authentic scenes considering Hayes’s talents and Costner’s terrific directing abilities. Hayes will be playing the “namesake character” that Kevin Costner plays in the picture. Yes, Kevin is also the star of the upcoming movie. Horizon will be one of the most ambitious upcoming projects for the director and there’s only three more parts to go!
