On October 15th, the sequel to the 2018 Halloween reboot which starred Curtis, Halloween Kills, will be opening in theaters. It will be screened out-of-competition at the upcoming Venice event on September 8th right after Curtis is honored with the Golden Lion. It will be fitting for audiences to see her role in the latest film in the hugely popular franchise that helped make her a living legend.

Jamie Lee Curtis has always been a force to be reckoned with. Her star-making role was playing Laurie Strode in 1978’s original Halloween. In horror films like 1980’s Terror Train, she maintained her reign as horror movie queen until it was proven in 1983 that she could actually play comedy phenomenally as well with her part in the wildly successful Trading Places playing opposite Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy.

In the late 1980’s/early 1990’s, Jamie Lee Curtis showed her versatility when she starred in action films such as Blue Steel and the Arnold Schwarzenegger box-office mega-hit True Lies. She also showed her softer side when she appeared in the family friendly tearjerker My Girl in 1991. She went on to be nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy in the 2003 box-office hit Freaky Friday.

In 2018, the Halloween reboot was released and earned almost $160 million domestically cementing Jamie Lee Curtis’ place in Hollywood as a true movie star. She also is a best-selling children’s book author as well. Her television work includes her role on the aptly titled FX show, “Scream Queens.”

Curtis, winning this year’s award, is in good company with past recipients. Last year, the Golden Lion was awarded to Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton.

Jamie Lee Curtis is a truly legendary Hollywood movie star and it will be great for her fans to see her win the acclaim she has so rightfully deserved throughout her entire career.
