Jurassic World 4 Adds Rupert Friend to Cast

Rupert Friend has joined the high-profile cast of an upcoming 2025 blockbuster, Jurassic World 4, which is going to be directed by Gareth Edwards.

He portrayed Mr. George Wickham in Pride and Prejudice back in 2005. Now, 20 years after that, Rupert Friend will be co-starring in a big-budget sequel, Jurassic World 4. This news is no small feat considering that Friend is going to be a part of one of the most successful franchises of all-time.

So far, cast alongside Friend are Jonathan Bailey (“Bridgerton”) and Scarlett Johansson. These stars are likely to boost the appeal of the franchise and re-launch it to a whole new level of success, hopefully for the better. Consequently, another article revealed that Glen Powell (Anyone but You) turned down a role in Jurassic World 4 because he didn’t see himself as pivotal to the film’s potential success.

Though Powell is not going to be a part of the series, Friend has quietly been showing his range as an actor in non-showy but successful character roles. The actor recently appeared in Asteroid City last year which was one of Wes Anderson’s best films although almost every film Wes Anderson does is one of his best, no? Friend also appeared in a couple of Anderson’s short films.

Scarlett Johansson and Rupert Friend are the most valuable players in Jurassic World 4 as Bailey is in a category all by himself. Friend used to be a heartthrob back when he played in artsy films like Pride and Prejudice. Johansson is one of the most successful stars of all-time who chooses her projects wisely from Oscar bait like Lost in Translation to blockbusters like Black Widow.

Friend also appeared in the heavy drama, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas which proved the actor had a lot of range back then in 2008. Glen Powell’s absence in Jurassic World 4 could give Rupert Friend a lot of opportunities for moments to shine and the sequel will be an excellent way for Friend to advance himself in the Hollywood casting game for future projects.

While the exact plot of Jurassic World 4 hasn’t fully been revealed, the director of the picture, Gareth Edwards, is one of the best blockbuster film directors who made The Creator last year which showcased Oscar-nominated visual effects. Edwards’s The Creator didn’t win huge returns at the box-office but was the thinking person’s science fiction film action picture.

While Friend’s fans are excited at the prospect of seeing him back on-screen in the new Jurassic World picture, don’t count out Friend from selecting some potential Oscar-bait projects in the not-too-distant future. The actor possesses sophistication which makes his work stand out from your average film performance. He has also been seen on the show, “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” Jurassic World 4 will be released in July of 2025.
