Kaitlyn Dever Joins the Cast of the Next GODZILLA X KONG Film

Godzilla x Kong Sequel Adds Kaitlyn Dever
Kaitlyn Dever of Booksmart fame has been added to the cast of the upcoming potential blockbuster sequel in the Godzilla x Kong series.
Kaitlyn Dever has supplied several notable performances to her career resume since coming on the scene in supporting roles in movies like 2014’s Laggies. She can now add blockbuster creature feature to her list of memorable roles since she will be appearing in the next Godzilla x Kong movie from Legendary Pictures set to be directed by Grant Sputore.
Dever first notably came in front of the cinematic public eye with her small turn in Laggies as Chloe Grace Moretz’s character’s best friend. 2019’s hilarious Olivia Wilde teen comedy movie, Booksmart, paired Dever with Beanie Feldstein with hilarious results and Dever has been on a roll ever since. She went on to play in the film adaptation of Dear Even Hansen and the box-office hit, Ticket to Paradise where she played opposite screen legends George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
Hulu movies, No One Will Save You and Rosaline featured Dever in juicy, well-reviewed leading roles which catapulted her to stardom and proved she could carry movies on her own. Now, she’s most likely going to be a certified movie star thanks to her casting in the big-budgeted Godzilla x Kong picture.
This new creature feature promises to focus more on the human characters than the last entry in the series, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, did. Though the general movie-going public liked the previous film in the franchise as proven by its “A-” CinemaScore and terrific box-office results, critics complained about the movie’s lack of substantial screen time with the humans. This next sequel promises to remedy that very critical situation even though the last picture was the highest grossing Godzilla picture to date.
Kaitlyn Dever is one of a few potential human characters that are planned to be interspersed in the new follow-up Monsterverse movie. This new picture should be “bigger and better” than the previous films in the series. Dever’s presence in the cast will hopefully afford the actress the opportunity to strut her comic and dramatic talents which have been so prevalent in her previous work whether it was funny or serious.
Though Dever may not be the first name that comes to mind for a monster movie, it’s an inspired casting choice to see Dever on board a probable blockbuster such as this one. She’s coming into her own as an actress and this past decade has certainly seen some solid parts played by Dever. For me, it was her turn in Ticket to Paradise that helped make the movie such an enjoyable one. She will certainly help streamline Godzilla x Kong to audiences other than the targeted one for that picture.
