Keanu Reeves is Now “Open” to Making a SPEED 3 Movie

Keanu Reeeves Big Smile

Keanu Reeves Would Consider Doing Speed 3

Keanu Reeves, fresh off The Matrix Resurrections, has admitted that he could possibly return to make another action sequel, Speed 3.

In 1994, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock made the action-packed blockbuster, Speed. That truly original, fast-paced movie was successful with both critics and audiences making a terrific-for-then $121 million at the domestic box-office during the summer that year. Now with Keanu Reeves making rounds with interviewers to promote his new Matrix picture, he has discovered, within himself, that making Speed 3 could be a possibility. After all, his character, Neo, was killed off in the third Matrix movie all those years back. Now, here he is starring in another film in the wildly successful franchise. Speed 3 could thus happen as well. Perhaps one day.

Reeves discussed this news in an interview with Extra. Reeves was asked about his time working with Bullock and whether or not he enjoyed it. He was then asked if he would reunite with Bullock for a potential sequel. Reeves was revealed as saying “…you can’t say never.”

Back in the late 1990’s (1997 to be precise), a sequel to Speed was released. Speed 2: Cruise Control was trashed by critics and drew terrible business at the box-office. Keanu Reeves wasn’t in that one, however. Jason Patric was. Reeves had turned down that movie. It seems the passing of time has enhanced the possibility of Reeves coming back for another Speed movie.

The original Speed was about a bomb on a bus that would go off if the bus went under 50 miles per hour. Bullock and Reeves’ characters were the heroes on the bus out to stop the madman played by the great Dennis Hopper who is definitely missed. Speed was an action-filled joyride that kept the adrenaline pumping for the entire film’s length. Reeves simply didn’t like the script for the sequel, which was set on a cruise ship. Apparently, many other people didn’t care for it either judging from its dismal box-office take.

Keanu Reeves is back in The Matrix Resurrections and the film has a large number of fans tuning in to see it on HBO Max and, in theaters, starting today.

Keanu Reeves recently did another Bill and Ted film which was released last year. It’s a real possibility that Speed 3 could happen one day although nothing is concrete as of yet. Many people would love the prospect of seeing Reeves and Bullock team up to save the day again. They were a match made in heaven back then and maybe they’re exactly who we need to see back on the silver screen to get another great adult action picture out of Hollywood.
