PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 (2026): Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock’s Sequel Conjures up a Release Date

Practical Magic 2 Unveils When its Spell Will be Cast
Warner Bros.’ long-awaited witch sequel, Practical Magic 2, has stirred up a release date of September 18, 2026.
You’ll want to put the lime in the coconut on September 18, 2026 because that’s when Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will be back on the big screen as the Owens sisters/witches again. This new sequel will be based upon Alice Hoffman’s recent 2021 book, The Book of Magic. It’s about trying to break a curse of being unable to find love, and its readers may know whether or not Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest’s aunt characters will be coming back for the new picture and for how long. I didn’t read the book, so I wasn’t sure, nor does IMDb mention them in the film’s cast list, yet they were seemingly confirmed to be returning for the sequel in previous reports. The only question now is: How much screen time will these older screen veterans actually have? It also feels doubtful Aidan Quinn will be coming back for a large chunk of part two, though anything can happen at this point.
Warner Bros. unleashed a teaser with stars Bullock and Kidman’s voices helping to hype up the release date of the upcoming picture. The Owens sisters aren’t quite the Sanderson sisters, but like putting on the costumes of the witches from Hocus Pocus 2, the idea of dressing up like the Owens sisters for Halloween 2026 could be a fun idea for the season considering the sequel will open just in time for the holiday.
Kirkus Reviews called the novel on which this upcoming film is based, “sweet” but “hard to get through.” Luckily, movies are an interesting way of cutting uninteresting plots and characters from long books, so, perhaps, this is a case where the movie could be better than the book.
Warner Bros. has to seriously consider the soundtrack for this new project. Besides a fine instrumental score, the first movie had plenty of fabulous music alongside the scenes of the witches’ romances and trickery. “If you ever did believe” in this project, Warner Bros., there needs to be a song or two on the track from an accomplished artist like Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow or possibly even -dare I say it?- Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood? This will help drive people to the romance this movie promises to offer.
Kidman has been in high-profile movies lately like Holland and Babygirl and has been steadily working throughout the years. Bullock’s career has been touch and go lately although she just nabbed a part opposite Keanu Reeves again in an untitled thriller film.
Practical Magic 2 promises to cast a delicious spell at the box-office. Casting one with critics is a whole different story altogether considering the lackluster reception of the first picture by major film critics in the U.S.
