Jenna Ortega Cast in New Dramatic Film

Horror movie actress, Jenna Ortega, has been cast in a new dramatic movie being made by Lionsgate titled Miller’s Girl.

You’ve seen Jenna Ortega in her horror movie roles in pictures such as the recent Scream “requel” and X. Now, for a change of pace, Ortega will play a less horrific role in an upcoming film called Miller’s Girl. Ortega will be playing in the film opposite Martin Freeman of The Hobbit movies fame.

Miller’s Girl is a story centered on the relationship between a teacher and a student as a creative writing assignment starts to unveil rather complicated issues. This movie will be directed by a newcomer, Jade Halley Bartlett. The film will be made in Georgia.

Ortega nailed her role as the “one” who answers the phone at the beginning of this year’s Scream film. Ortega followed that up with the scary movie called X that helped launch the current film release, Pearl. However, she has a strong resume when considering her TV work which includes roles on shows like “You,” and “Jane the Virgin.” She was recently cast in “The Addams Family” Netflix spinoff series titled “Wednesday” in which Ortega will be playing the title role originated on film by Christina Ricci.

Martin Freeman will be an interesting co-star to see perform with the always intriguing Ortega. Films about teacher and student bonds have always been a genre that is appealing to mainstream audiences. We don’t know too much about the specifics of the story of Miller’s Girl quite yet. We don’t know how the film is going to spin its premise although some sources say it has a mysterious vibe to it.

Ortega impressed audiences greatly in X which was about some porno filmmakers being terrorized by an elderly couple. While that film is one of the best movies of the year so far, Ortega also had a small part in the Foo Fighters bomb, Studio 666. Although that film proved Foo Fighters can’t act too well, it did solidify Ortega’s talents for roles in horror pictures whether they are brief or more substantial roles.

The always phenomenal Martin Freeman is a British performer who never ceases to amaze in every project he takes on and it is likely that his success record will be continuous given the star power of the always versatile Freeman. Ortega and Freeman are a combination of two extraordinarily different talents but one thing’s for sure: Miller’s Girl is definitely going to have audiences interested in its very intelligent premise.

Ortega is becoming a definite talent to watch out for. We don’t know how good she’ll be as Wednesday Addams, but I have a good feeling about how well she’ll do in the part.
