Weekend Impressions
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be the Number One film at the box office over the weekend for the second week in a row. The new movies opening this weekend do not have the grandeur or the name recognition to pose any type of threat to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Because of that fact, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is going to ride on a two week high atop the box office until Ant-Man and the Wasp comes out next weekend.
Incredibles 2 will be second for the second week in a row this weekend. Incredibles 2 will have repeat viewers for its third week in release. Incredibles 2 will also benefit from the fact that it is the only semi-new superhero film in theater.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado will premiere in Third Place. I thought Sicario was an OK film, the anti-hero had a fantastic backstory, but that it was nothing special. Others didn’t feel the same. Some lauded the film and enough people saw it to warrant a sequel.
Uncle Drew will premiere in Fourth this weekend at the box office. From the trailer, the film looks funny and it has a unique pitch: come a see a gaggle of former NBA stars playing ancient, fictional basketball stars.
Ocean’s 8 will be Fifth this weekend at the box office. This may be the last weekend in which Ocean’s 8 is in the Top Five at the box office.
