Weekend Impressions

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation will Number One film at the box office over the weekend. Each successive film in the franchise has made more than its predecessor. Hotel Transylvania made $42.5 Million on its opening weekend then Hotel Transylvania 2 made $48.6 Million. Hotel Transylvania should make around $50 Million, possibly just enough beat Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be Second at the box office this weekend. If the superhero film has a strong enough hold from last weekend, Ant-Man and the Wasp will be number one at the box office again. It’s possible.

Skyscraper will be Third at the box office this weekend. Skyscraper is a throw-back action film starring one of a-list action star. The plot is generic – Die Hard and a taller building – but that doesn’t seem to matter. People want spectacle, they want action, and they want The Rock. Skyscraper gives them all three. “Welcome to the party pal” – Die Hard.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be Fourth this weekend at the box office.

Incredibles 2 will be Fifth this weekend at the box office.

This may be the last weekend in which Incredibles 2 is in the Top Five at the box office as The Equalizer 2 and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! will be premiering.
