The motion pictures now in-theater are from various Hollywood and independent movie studios. Weekend Impressions
Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the Number One film at the box office over the weekend for the second weekend in a row. None of the films being released this weekend have the stature, buzz, or name recognition to supplant Solo: A Star Wars Story.
There are no big, tent-pole films being released this weekend. None of the films being released this weekend will be able to supercede Solo: A Star Wars Story for the Top Spot.
Even-though this is the case, I still believe that Solo: A Star Wars Story should not have been released while Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 were in-theater. They are cannibalizing Solo‘s audience and Solo‘s box office revenue. The thought-process behind releasing Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 25, 2018 was completely flawed.
Deadpool 2 will be Second at the box office over the weekend. Some people do not want to see a standard superhero film and Deadpool 2 is not your run-of-the mill comic book film.
Avengers: Infinity War will be Third at the box office over the weekend during its sixth week in domestic release.
Adrift will be Fourth at the box office over the weekend. It’s based on a true story and is led by two recognizable lead actors.
Book Club will be Fifth at the box office over the weekend. This will be the last weekend where Book Club will be in the Top Five.
If there is a movie to seek out this weekend, other than the aforementioned, it would be: Upgrade.
