Orlando Bloom Gran Turismo

Speed Into Theaters Sunday with $4 Movie Tickets

This coming Sunday, August 27, 2023, there will be another National Cinema Day and movie tickets will be discounted to $4 at over 3,000 locations for one day only.

Thinking of seeing Orlando Bloom in the new race car drama, Gran Turismo this weekend? Well, seeing this film won’t hurt your wallet too much since Sunday is officially National Cinema Day. That means the cost for a ticket will ring up at just $4 per person. Not into Gran Turismo? That movie just isn’t your speed? No problem. Barbenheimer is still on the table as is the last Mission: Impossible and so much more!

Last year’s National Cinema Day was hugely attended as audiences caught up with movies they may have not otherwise seen on the big screen. Thanks to the enormously discounted ticket prices, families turned out in droves making it a smashing success. This year, there are many reasons to see a movie on the silver screen. The opening of Gran Turismo is most likely going to be the “big ticket” but don’t count out Blue Beetle, Barbie and Oppenheimer either. Seen those already? There are other new options as well: Golda, the Helen Mirren drama, and Liam Neeson’s new starrer, Retribution, are among them. Don’t forget Disney has re-released Beauty and the Beast (the animated version from 1991) and that one is going to disappear from theaters quickly so you may want to catch it in theaters while you can!

Many viewers took the opportunity to see two movies in one weekend the last few weekends with a double feature: Barbie and Oppenheimer (AKA Barbenheimer). Now, on Sunday, for $8 per person, you can see both pictures in one day and see what all the fuss is about regarding those particular films.

Golda and Retribution will benefit greatly from being released this weekend. National Cinema Day will enhance their grosses a bit if all goes as planned. Retribution should make a lot more than it would under normal circumstances which could help rejuvenate Neeson’s somewhat fading star at the box-office. Golda was never poised to be a major hit but could get some of the box-office gravy that National Cinema Day will undoubtedly provide for films that audiences have yet to discover.

Other movies that could make audiences plunk down their $4 at the local multiplex include Meg 2: The Trench, Strays, Talk to Me, a re-release of Jurassic Park and a new drama called The Hill. Popcorn stands were super busy last year since audiences saved substantially on tickets and could thus direct their money to snacks instead. Expect a repeat financial performance at theaters this year as Gran Turismo drives away with the number one 1 spot at the box-office unless Barbie gets some female heavy audiences out wearing pink again for a repeat viewing of that box-office smash favorite.
