RUSH HOUR 4: Chris Tucker Says Another Sequel in Hit Film Series is in the Works

Another Rush Hour Film is Said to Be in Development

Chris Tucker is said to be eager to come on board a fourth Rush Hour film which is said to currently be in the works.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Rush Hour picture. In 2007, the third film in the franchise did well at the box-office earning a nice $140 million domestically. Though it scored the lowest of the three Rush Hour movies with an “A-” CinemaScore grade (the first two scored straight “A” marks), it seemed like a fourth film would have happened much sooner. Some 16 years later, Chris Tucker is excited to announce that Rush Hour 4 is in development.

While this news sounds great, there is a slight issue. The Rush Hour films were all directed by Brett Ratner who has had allegations of sexual misconduct throughout the years. Though Tucker said he was meeting with “the director” to discuss the details of Rush Hour 4, it would take a small miracle for Warner Bros. (which owns New Line Cinema) to work with Ratner again due to his checkered history. Another big question mark is: Will Jackie Chan return to work with Tucker and (possibly) Ratner for another Rush Hour picture? According to Tucker, Chan was “ready” in 2018 for the fourth film in the franchise so it’s anybody’s guess how the film will get made now, especially if Ratner is attached to it. Will another studio release it or will New Line/Warner Bros. release it?

Tucker is going to be back on the big screen next month in the dramatic film, Air. That movie about Nike which is set to feature Matt Damon and Ben Affleck back in top form, seems like a decent project for Tucker to strut his acting abilities which have been seen a bit less often that many people would like. Silver Linings Playbook back in 2012 was his last really juicy role before Air. Tucker showed great potential for a seriously great movie career in 1997’s The Fifth Element but rarely does film projects these days. His fans are hoping he will return to the Rush Hour series with a fourth installment of the film.

As Tucker is definitely interested in working with Chan again on a Rush Hour movie, it is quite hopeful that a fourth movie will see itself into actual production. The original Rush Hour film is best known for its hilarious scene with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker moving and grooving to Edwin Starr’s song “War (What is it Good For? Absolutely Nothing).” Audiences loved the first film immensely and seemed to really like the sequels so it’s about time another one of these movies actually makes it into theaters.
