Sally Field Slated to Receive Prestigious Honor From SAG

Oscar-winning actress Sally Field has been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild.

Sally Field is one of the most remarkable actresses of our time. So, it’s only fitting that SAG will bestow the honor of their Lifetime Achievement Award to the actress on February 26th.

Field’s new movie, 80 for Brady, is going to be released February 3rd and already, her fans are intrigued and cannot wait to line up to go see it. Field also appeared in last month’s little-seen but entertaining movie, Spoiler Alert. While those movies have their place in Field’s distinguished career, they are not necessarily the films Field will be remembered for the most. She won two Best Actress Oscars at the height of her career for the wonderful movies Norma Rae and Places in the Heart. People liked her. They really liked her. And, they still do.

You may remember Sally Field from some blockbusters in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. She appeared in Steel Magnolias, Mrs. Doubtfire and the Academy Award winning, Forrest Gump. Field’s career really started in the mid 1960’s though, when the actress charmed television audiences with her work on “Gidget” and “The Flying Nun.”

Fran Drescher, SAG-AFTRA’s president, has stated that she believes Field is “amazing” and a “massive talent.” Those words are truly earned when one reflects back on the very versatile Field’s resume. In 2012, Field stunned the movie world with her work as Mary Todd Lincoln in Lincoln. That performance resulted in an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the remarkable performer.

Sally Field will be the 58th person to receive this prestigious honor from SAG. Past winners include Lily Tomlin who co-stars with Field in the upcoming 80 for Brady. That movie also stars the legendary Jane Fonda and is sure to be a hit at the box-office with older moviegoers and, perhaps, even younger ones who will come to root for the old-time actresses who have assembled for the comic movie.

Sally Field was mama in Forrest Gump. The main character of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) stated, “My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” With Field’s performances, however, you always knew you would get Field to pour her whole heart and soul into each and every role she took on. Rarely, if ever, did she take a misstep with the projects she chose. She is a master of her craft who has earned this honor wholeheartedly. It will be great to see her receive her award when the ceremony happens on February 26th.
