Rosario Dawson cast as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2

Actress Rosario Dawson has been cast as Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s former Jedi padawan apprentice, in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Dawson will be portraying the adult version of the Tano character. The 14-year old padawan apprentice version was originally assigned to Anakin Skywalker by Yoda “to teach him a greater sense of responsibility…It would also give him insight into his relationship with his own master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and depict how their relationship matured. Ahsoka and Anakin’s relationship was seen as an essential story arc spanning both the animated film and Clone Wars television series.”

As is being reported, Dawson has been keen on the role of Ahsoka Tano since 2017.

In 2017, a fan tweeted at Rosario Dawson, asking her to appear in a Star Wars movie as Ahsoka, and the actress responded, “Ummmm… yes, please?! #AhsokaLives”

This tweet spurred groups of fans to campaign for her to play the role. Dawson was later asked about the fan campaign while appearing on Good Morning America, and she commented that “It would be amazing!”

(Spoilers Begin) Leaving the Jedi Order at the end of Season Five of The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano is one of the few Jedi believed to have to survived Order 66, which saw the destruction of almost all Jedi at the hands of clone soldiers. (Spoilers End)

If Tano is in a fight scene in The Mandalorian: Season 2, of course she will be, fans of Tano will expect to see something rather familiar (her co-creator, Dave Filoni, is working on this TV series). “Ahsoka wields two lightsabers, one with a shorter shoto-style blade, and her iconic fighting stance involves her holding the hilts with a reverse grip.”
