THE WRECKER: Mena Suvari Boards Upcoming Action Film

Mena Suvari Slated to Appear in Forthcoming Action Picture

Mena Suvari, a star from the late 1990’s, is joining the cast of an upcoming action/thriller picture titled The Wrecker.

Mena Suvari was a big star when she came on to the movie scene with one of the most controversial roles of the late 1990’s with the Academy Award winner, American Beauty. Now, she’s been cast in an action film from Eyeconic Pictures that has some high-profile actors attached to it such as Tyrese Gibson, Harvey Keitel (of the great 1993 film True Romance and countless other action movies) and Danny Trejo. It’s called The Wrecker.

It has been said that The Wrecker, to be directed by Art Camacho, will feature Niko Foster and showcase the story of an ex marine who currently works as a car mechanic and becomes involved with the mob after this character’s brother makes a bad decision. With heavy hitters such as Keitel and Trejo in it, expect some major action to take place as this movie’s plot progresses. Trejo, Keitel and Gibson (who, himself, has experience in the Fast and the Furious series) are, in fact, like an action movie dream team.

Suvari always seemed positioned to become a huge star. She made several magazine appearances in the latter part of the 1990’s and was selected as the cover story for an issue of the college paper in New York City where I got my major start writing: UniverCity. It was American Pie and American Beauty which launched her to stardom but her career faltered a bit when Suvari re-teamed with fellow American Pie alumni, Jason Biggs, in a comedy called Loser which tanked at the box-office. The impression left on audiences by her work in American Beauty was simply unforgettable, though.

Just because Suvari hasn’t been making big blockbusters doesn’t mean she hasn’t been working. Her recent credits include a large number of roles in independent movies such as What Lies Below and she played in the TV series, “American Horror Story.” In 2005, she appeared in the Rob Reiner directed Jennifer Aniston comedy vehicle, Rumor Has It. She also appeared on television in the hit show, “Six Feet Under.”

The Wrecker is currently in production in Las Vegas, Nevada. Suvari may have come a long way from the young age where she played the beautiful teenager in American Beauty but she has remained an intriguing actress throughout the years although she has not been in the spotlight with major box-office attractions. This role in The Wrecker could open up the door to bigger action pictures and with its amazing cast, look for action/thriller movie fans to want to watch this upcoming film. Seeing Suvari on screen again in a juicy role after all these years will be very intriguing for her fans.
