Tom Cruise Working with Elon Musk’s SpaceX on Action Film Shot in Space

Tom Cruise wants to shoot a film in outer space via Elon Musk‘s SpaceX and NASA (SpaceX uses NASA’s launchpads). Tom Cruise pushed boundaries with his increasing aggressive stunt work in the Mission: Impossible film franchise where it is him, not a stuntman, doing outrageous and hair-raising stunt work.

It now seems that the next frontier for Cruise, like in Star Trek, is outer space.

The potential title for the film is not available. For what we know, there is no script for the film yet, just an idea, maybe a story idea. There is no film distributor. There is no cast, besides Cruise, and no director. There is just the idea but it’s an enthralling one.

The logistics of shutting a film in space are monsters – not only will all of the actors have to train like astronauts before they are allowed in space, so will the film crew that goes into space as well. That is six months of training on their space suits, their space craft, etc. On top of that you have all of the film equipment that has to be hauled into space, situated, tested, etc.

Because of all of these extra costs, the budget for this film with be monstrous as well. I hope they are able to workout all of these speed bumps. I also hope they shoot the film entirely with IMAX cameras to capture the full beauty of outer space.
