Killing Them Safely Movie Trailer & Poster. Nick Berardini‘s Killing Them Safely (2015) movie trailer stars Rick Smith and Tom Smith. Killing Them Safely‘s plot synopsis: “In the early 2000s, two brothers found tremendous success when their company began selling a device that has been called ‘the biggest revolution in law enforcement since the radio.’ But as their company grew, they made decisions that would have lasting impact on both the public and their increasingly skeptical customer base.”
It is about goddamn time that this documentary was made. I was shocked when the student who was tased for asking John Kerry a question was turned into a meme, and people nationwide parroted “Don’t tase me, bro”. I was a politically active and infuriated college freshmen who after having moved to this country and accepted my stake in its politics, couldn’t understand how people so easily give up their civil liberties and mocked the victims openly. This was funny to, you? Fuck you, then.
This documentary seems to focus on the corporation behind the taser, and not unlike Michael Mann‘s The Insider (1999), draws parallels between the tobacco industries’ legal tactics and this corporation’s tactics. Once a business gets used to being in the making money business, fuck morals. Fuck the people, make that money. The trailer tells us how these people actively obfuscated direct links between ‘cardiac arrests’ and ‘taser induced cardiac arrests’, for example. This is some dark shit. This is also journalism that deserves to be at the forefront of unknowing cinema-goers.
The casual use of the taser by our police forces has been an issue sidelined, recently, by a more serious crime – the murder of innocent civilians by our police forces. This makes complete sense, but it doesn’t mean this subject deserves to be forgotten.

According to FirstShowing, “Killing Them Safely is a documentary about how Tasers are arming some law enforcement agencies with a weapon that is being purported as nonlethal even though it can be deadly. The trailer doesn’t show much footage, just some statistics, quotes, and a bit of an interview with one of the guys from Taser. The rest you’ll have to see in the doc itself. I will say I’m interested in checking this out. I also have to point out the awesome poster for this doc, also seen below the trailer – impressive design work. If you’re at all intrigued, give this doc a watch.”
