A Sixth Installment of THE PURGE is Ready to Spin the Storyline in a Whole Different Direction

Scary Purge Masks

The Purge 6 Should be a Darker Vision Than Usual

The latest installment in The Purge franchise will showcase a different take on the story line than usual with a more nightmarish scenario than audiences have been accustomed to.

What happens when America is divided by different ideologies? That’s the starting basis for yet another Purge movie, of course. America loves The Purge. Well, not the actual “purge” referred to in the film series’s title. It seems that every time a Purge movie opens, it does reasonably well at the box-office and the sixth movie in the series will probably not be an exception to that rule. This time out, the politics and character reactions in the movie will be as controversial as ever which could make the sixth movie in the franchise yet another thought-provoking smash-hit horror film.

It all started in 2013 with The Purge. That Ethan Hawke-starrer stunned the movie world when it grossed an astonishing $64 million at the domestic box-office. The premise focused on the idea of a 12-hour period that occurs once a year in which all illegal activity is deemed okay by the government. So, people hide out and try to protect themselves to avoid becoming the victims of the crimes of those who wish to commit them. Ethan Hawke’s horror movie had a fascinating premise although all of the film’s opening night audiences weren’t amused and rewarded the film a mere “C” CinemaScore grade, overall.

A year later, The Purge: Anarchy opened and jumped up a whole letter grade to a “B” CinemaScore. In 2016, in a surprising development, The Purge: Election Year got a “B+” CinemaScore which proved the franchise was at an all-time high in terms of audience approval. The fourth and fifth movies in the series got “B-“‘s and some people thought the movie series had run its course. Not so.

There was a recent television spin-off of The Purge made by Blumhouse and USA which also helped prepare the series’s fans for another movie in case it ever happened. It is now happening.

The sixth Purge movie promises to be brutal. It seems the premise has reached its maximum height of potential for chills this time out. This sixth film will focus on more intense things not usually touched upon in these movies. For example, more hell will break out than usual this time around. What is so interesting about these pictures is the fact that they imagine a society where ideologies divide the country yet leave audiences with a tremendous amount of fear thanks to the authentic feeling stories of terror that they present to the viewer.

The sixth Purge will promise many a nightmare and could improve upon the fifth film, The Forever Purge’s $44 million gross as that movie was released during the pandemic.
