Amy Adams Cast Opposite Javier Bardem in Apple TV’s CAPE FEAR Re-imagining

Amy Adams Joins Cape Fear Series
Amy Adams has come on-board the Apple TV show, Cape Fear, which is a reworking of themes found in 1991’s similarly titled film which was directed by Martin Scorsese.
Javier Bardem will be playing the Robert De Niro part (Max Cady) from 1991’s Cape Fear. That is a great casting choice since Bardem was bone-chilling in his Oscar-winning turn in No Country for Old Men. Joining Bardem will be multiple Academy Award nominated actress, Amy Adams who was recently seen in the moderately successful Nightbitch.
This new rendition of Cape Fear will be on Apple TV Plus and is still in its very late development stages. Adams’s character on the new show will be that of Anna Bowden. There has been no news in regards to other big casting choices such as who will play her husband on the forthcoming show. One thing is for sure: There will be an interesting dynamic revealed here because of the casting of Bardem and Adams who are two masters of the acting game. Bardem’s character will be a recently released convict who terrorizes the family Adams’s Anna is a part of.
Adams and Bardem will also serve as executive producers on the new Cape Fear in addition to starring in it. They’re in good company with the likes of legendary filmmakers, Steven Spielberg and Marty Scorsese, also co- executive producing the drama as well.
Amy Adams received multiple nominations in the Best Actress category and the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in movies like American Hustle, Junebug and Doubt. She also starred in the family friendly Enchanted films for Disney. She has made brave movies throughout the years such as Arrival and Vice. Nightbitch was a recent daring dramatic film of hers that didn’t do well in theaters but found an audience on Hulu just a short time after its brief theatrical run.
Apple TV Plus plans on making Cape Fear a must-see event through the recently unveiled casting choice of Adams in the principal female role in the show. Javier Bardem will most likely take his character on the show in unique directions as opposed to simply emulating the performance found in the great 1991 film by the incomparable De Niro.
Cape Fear was a box-office hit in 1991 and was one of Scorsese’s biggest box-office earners at the time of its release and for years after its release. As more roles are cast in the show, viewers will see just how strong the potential is for this to be not only an intense show but, perhaps, an award-winning one as well.
