Drew Barrymore Would Most Likely Return to Acting if One of Several Projects Took Flight

Drew Barrymore Would Possibly Act Again

Drew Barrymore has revealed she would return to acting to do either a third Charlie’s Angels movie or another Adam Sandler vehicle.

Drew Barrymore may have quit acting to raise her kids. That doesn’t stop her from considering what could or would happen if several key projects were to one day take flight. Barrymore has built relationships with her co-stars over the years and would be eager to build on them some more if the possibility of some films were to potentially become a reality.

If the 2019 Charlie’s Angels reboot didn’t bomb at the box-office with a dismal $17 million domestic take, the original 2000 movie cast may have been able to reunite for a third picture in the franchise. That’s because Drew Barrymore, who played in the 2000 box-office hit, Charlie’s Angels, would be happy to get back with co-stars Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu for another action/comedy film in that series. Barrymore would indeed “show up.” The big budgeted 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle only made $100 million back then at the domestic box-office but that was a blockbuster when compared to the recent reboot.

Barrymore also has a long standing film relationship with three-time co-star Adam Sandler. The comic duo worked together on three pictures: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended. The Wedding Singer did a terrific $80 million at the domestic box-office back in 1998. 50 First Dates fared even better with an astonishing $120 million. Blended, however, fizzled with just $46 million suggesting their partnership may have run its course at the box-office. If Sandler and Barrymore were to join forces again for another movie, it would most likely be hysterical, though, and Barrymore would probably be there.

Then, there’s also the matter of the Planes, Trains and Automobiles remake that Barrymore recently pitched and would enjoy making with Cameron Diaz. While a female version of the John Hughes late 1980’s comedy would be very entertaining, the first movie only earned $49 million back in 1987 suggesting this story line has limited appeal at the box-office. It is essentially a holiday movie so if the remake were to happen, it would have to cash in significantly during the months of November and December unless, of course, it went straight to streaming on a streamer such as Paramount Plus.

Barrymore started her acting career in 1982 with her turn as a child actress in Steven Spielberg’s box-office smash, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and had a nice run with great roles in movies like Riding in Cars with Boys and Miss You Already but the latter film from 2015 fizzled at the box-office with just a $1 million domestic take. Barrymore has a new fan base with her recent talk show so could find a whole new slew of fans if a movie of hers were to get a theatrical release. If it’s with Sandler or the Charlie’s Angels girls, Barrymore is so in.
