Kevin James Cast in New Action/Comedy Film

Kevin James has been chosen to star in a new mob comedy/action picture titled Guns Up which is in development at Millennium Media.

Director Edward Drake has found a star for the upcoming movie Guns Up in Kevin James. Perhaps, James is best known for his television work as Doug on the hilarious, “The King of Queens.” He has also had a nice career as a film star from movies like I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry to Here Comes the Boom to Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Guns Up will be about James’s character in the picture who is a cop juggling both a family life and a side hustle with the mob. Through a series of plot developments, James’s character will be over his head in trouble and will need to protect his family at all costs. Edward Drake wrote the script for the film as well and the picture is going to be given the opportunity to get international buyers at the Cannes Film Market. Production will begin in June on Guns Up. Millennium Media is the company behind the hit The Expendables movies as well.

In 2007, James hit the jackpot at the box-office appearing opposite Adam Sandler in the timely comedy, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry which earned an astonishing $120 million domestically during the prime of Sandler’s movie career. James soon became a leading man and is most known for Paul Blart: Mall Cop which made $146 million in 2009. Six years later, the sequel to that film made just $71 million domestically or less than half of its predecessor.

Still, James has always been a constantly funny screen presence in movies like Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 which were both huge hits. It’s time for James to make a comeback in the movies and Guns Up could be the project to help him make a return to the box-office charts if it is released theatrically.

James’s voice-over work for the Hotel Transylvania animated movies kept him busy throughout the latter part of the 2010’s. Guns Up marks the return of James to the kind of role audiences love to see him in: An average every day guy in wildly comic situations.

Many people remember James from the early part of his movie career when he appeared with Will Smith in the 2005 film, Hitch. That movie made a whopping $179 million at the domestic box-office and got James’s feet wet for his box-office success that he would find in his collaborations with Adam Sandler.

While many of his fans miss him at the movies, Guns Up should be the right project to get James back to basics doing what he loves and making his fans laugh again.
