Julia Garner Likely To Accept Offer to Play Madonna

Acclaimed actress Julia Garner has received an offer to play Madonna in an eagerly anticipated upcoming biopic.

After a very competitive auditioning process, Julia Garner has been chosen as the emerging actress who stands a true chance at playing Madonna. An offer was actually extended to the “Ozark” actress to play the lead role in the Universal Pictures film which is set to be directed by the “Queen of Pop,” herself, Madonna.

Garner recently appeared in an independent picture called The Assistant which received phenomenal critical praise for its portrayal of a female office worker who experiences harassment and finds herself unable to do anything about it. This film from a couple of years back earned a coveted Heartland Truly Moving Picture Award. Heartland selects only the most powerful pictures out there for this title and The Assistant earned the prestigious distinction of being one of them. While some mainstream audiences found the film a bit frustrating, Garner emerged from the movie as one of the most talented up-and-coming actresses working today.

It was revealed in a news story a few months back that other actresses such as Florence Pugh were competing to play Madonna so the revelation of Garner’s victory is truly noteworthy. This biopic has been the talk of Hollywood since the auditions were so intensive.

Madonna was once an actress herself who played parts in movies like Desperately Seeking Susan, Shanghai Surprise, Who’s That Girl, Dick Tracy and Evita, to name a few. She is noted for her tremendous contribution to the music world and is the original female pop sensation who set the stage for many female performers who followed in her footsteps.

Julia Garner is the recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She hails from the Bronx, New York. One of her most underappreciated roles was in the remarkably funny, hugely underrated 2015 Lily Tomlin movie, Grandma in which Garner played Tomlin’s granddaughter.

A prestigious role like Madonna could translate into award nominations. Garner has the acting chops to revel in this new part if she accepts it and, if all goes as planned, look for Garner to be a force to contend with at the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Though it is being directed by Madonna, herself, the film promises to be an accurate portrayal of the superstar that will be a one-of-a-kind movie-going experience regardless of how it turns out. I’ll venture that Madonna will direct Garner to one of the most high-profile, successful roles Garner will ever have!
