KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2024): William H. Macy Comes on Board the Upcoming Science Fiction Sequel Extravaganza

William H Macy Close Up

William H. Macy Joins the Latest Planet of the Apes Film

William H. Macy has been cast in the high-profile sequel to War For the Planet of the Apes called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Critically acclaimed “Shameless” actor William H. Macy has signed on to appear in 20th Century Studio’s latest Planet of the Apes movie, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. This forthcoming film will serve as a sequel to 2017’s tentpole film directed by Matt Reeves, War For the Planet of the Apes. That 2017 movie earned a nice “A-” CinemaScore mark and made $146 million domestically and another $343 million internationally meaning there’s still a huge audience for these pictures which Macy has just agreed to be a part of. Wes Ball will be taking directing duties over from Matt Reeves who is busy at work on another The Batman picture.

William H. Macy needs no introduction. Especially if you were a movie-goer in the mid-to-late 1990’s when the master thespian, Macy, appeared in films like Fargo and Magnolia. Macy may be best known to modern day viewers for the 11 seasons he spent on the hit cable show, “Shameless” but the actor was always known for his tremendous quirky talents which were evidenced by his Oscar nod for the much adored Fargo back in the 1990’s.

Tim Burton relaunched the Planet of the Apes movies in 2001 with a Mark Wahlberg-led reboot and the franchise has been going steady at the box-office ever since. Macy has the potential to be part of a blockbuster film again with his casting in the upcoming sequel movie.

Macy’s work in the late 1990’s and beyond wasn’t all Oscar-caliber, though. Consider his turns in the box-office dud Mystery Men from 1999 and the goofy but wildly successful Wild Hogs from 2007. Macy has still nevertheless proven his versatility in a career with an unusual track record at the box-office.

Macy is best in character roles such as his work in the 1995 gem, Mr. Holland’s Opus or the 1998 masterpiece, Pleasantville but he also has what it takes to play in blockbusters as was seen in Air Force One in 1997 and, of course, Jurassic Park III in 2001. His latest Planet of the Apes picture is sure to put the actor back in the spotlight once again.

William H. Macy is one of the most versatile actors working today and it will be great seeing him in a sure-to-be blockbuster such as the forthcoming tentpole coming in 2024 from 20th Century Studios. Also in the upcoming Apes movie are Freya Allen and Owen Teague. Look out for Macy’s triumphant return to the silver screen!
