Rachel McAdams Poised to Play in New Horror Movie
Acclaimed actress, Rachel McAdams, could be joining director Sam Raimi in making an upcoming suspense/horror picture titled Send Help.
Rachel McAdams was once a romantic leading lady in films like The Notebook and The Vow. Now, she may be doing something a little creepier with the upcoming Sam Raimi project, Send Help. Talks are in session for the actress to appear in a principal role in the forthcoming thriller which is going to be set on an island and be in the vein of films like Misery and Cast Away.
Besides his work on Spider-Man films, Raimi won much acclaim for his unique touch on movies like the brilliant A Simple Plan from 1998. However, his direction on the horror film, Drag Me To Hell, from 2009 also earned him accolades from critics. Audiences didn’t respond as well to that one with CinemaScore audiences grading the film a mere “B-.” Raimi previously directed McAdams in the hit Marvel box-office blockbuster, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While McAdams strutted her acting chops in dramas like the Oscar-winning Spotlight, she also came close to another Oscar nomination last year for her work in the acclaimed dramedy, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Ultimately, despite winning a couple of accolades for that role, it proved to be too light a film for the Academy’s taste when the nominations were officially announced.
Send Help sounds like it will feature Raimi on solid ground again and McAdams would be the perfect leading lady to top line a thriller like the one Raimi is setting out to make. 20th Century Studios will be backing the picture which is expected to receive a theatrical release given the popularity of Raimi as a filmmaker. McAdams typically makes films that end up on the big screen as well. Her role in the Valentine’s Day favorite, The Notebook, is one of her most popular roles.

It’s about a woman making her way up the career ladder with a job in morning television. This film was light and sweet whereas Send Help will be heavy and sour at times.
