Cailee Spaeny is Poised to Be the Next Alien Movie’s Star

Cailee Spaeny is slated to be cast in the central leading role of the next Alien movie from 20th Century Studios.

Cailee Spaeny sort of has a background in science fiction films when one considers her part in 2018’s Pacific Rim: Uprising. Spaeny is still more widely known for her roles in more intriguing parts in films such as the hilarious How It Ends and television events such as “Mare of Easttown.” It came as something of a surprise that Spaeny has been tapped to be the leading lady in the next film to be made in the Alien franchise. Fede Alvarez will be directing the forthcoming science fiction movie which is to be made by Scott Free and released by 20th Century Studios.

Spaeny was recently cast in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming movie, Priscilla which is about the life of Priscilla Presley. That high profile role is likely to catapult Spaeny to stardom because the funny How It Ends suffered a bit at the box-office because of the fact that it was released during the pandemic thus it was not widely seen. Had the wildly clever How It Ends come out any other time, it probably would have been a strong contender for big time receipts at the specialty box-office. Instead it undeservedly got lost in the shuffle. Spaeny was charming and energetic in that movie from 2021 which makes it likely that she will excel in almost any future role she takes on.

In addition to the aforementioned highlights of her career, Spaeny has had other high profile roles in movie like On the Basis of Sex and The Craft: Legacy. The latter film also got lost in the shuffle during he pandemic and didn’t generate as much appeal as it could have though it did moderately well on streaming services.

The upcoming Alien picture will most likely start shooting in 2023. It is about a race of aliens known as Xenomorphs who are surely going to be ferociously vicious to watch. The movie should have the typical gooey effects galore that the franchise is known for. Sigourney Weaver made a career out of playing in several of the earlier Alien movies and, perhaps, Spaeny will be the most memorable female to join the special effects saturated series since Weaver, herself. Given the quality of Spaeny’s previous work, that notion is a definite possibility.

The Alien movies have typically been successful at the box-office although the earliest ones are the ones that really generated the most cash. Recently in Prey (which streamed on Hulu), Predator was rebooted and since Predator at one point fought Alien in previous pictures, there is certainly hope that creature features are still a big commodity either through streaming or at the box-office. There’s no denying Spaeny’s status as one of the most terrific young actresses of her generation.
