New York Comic Con Day Four Write Up on FOX‘s Grimsburg featuring Jon Hamm and Rachel Dratch.

Jon Hamm and Rachel Dratch were at New York Comic Con 2024 to promote the second season of their morbidly hysterical new animated show, Grimsburg. On the program, Hamm plays a dad detective named Marvin Flute while Dratch provides the voice for Marvin’s kid, Stan. Dratch immediately won over the audience with her hilarious antics which included describing her voice-over characterization as that which would be linked to a “nasally” kid. She soon apologized to all the “nasally” kids and adults in the audience. One has to see this show to see just how funny both Hamm and Dratch are in their respective roles. Hamm plays it straight for the most part which will make things even more humorous for the show’s intended audience.

The Grimsburg show from the second season which was on view at Comic Con begins with taking a shot at the killer female robot horror movie, M3gan (Megan). The female robot on hand here called Molly (Mo11y) is absolutely hysterical. The show pokes fun at how numbers are integrated into names and words to replace letters. Mo11y is a hoot. When Mo11y kills its inventors and goes AWOL, Stan takes a liking to the robot which is problematic given the robot’s vicious nature. Mo11y even does a dance here to rival the one done by M3gan (Megan) in the film from 2023.

Grimsburg

Marvin is such a humorous character who doesn’t have his priorities straight. On the contrary. He worries about solving crimes but sort of neglects his family in the process. The show this season promises to have much more crazy horror movie spin-off episodes. There are also a number of guest stars who will appear in season 2, including the incomparable Tina Fey. There is a spoof on Tom Petty in the creation of one of the show’s characters that the creator promises will make audiences laugh. Perhaps, the biggest news is that Martin Short will be soon joining the program as well as one of the voice-over talents involved in the production. That comes as little surprise given the nature of his work on Only Murders in the Building.

Questions were asked by audience members that brought up good potential ideas for future episodes. One of the questions pondered the thought of Grimsburg and its characters crossing over with other FOX shows. That won’t be happening right now but you never know what the future could hold. Hamm offered words of wisdom to those trying to get into voice-over work as a profession by offering advice that having fun with the work itself is the best way to enjoy and embrace creativity which could lead to an eventual career in voice-over work. Dratch pointed out the voices are not recorded in the same studio, for the most part anyway.

Funnyman Alan Tudyk is also a part of Grimsburg and the wildly unique world that it creates as an animated series. All three current stars of the show were asked to speak in their voices that they use on the show at the panel event and the three performers were hilariously funny in the way they honored that particular request.

Grimsburg is a wonderfully unique idea. Showcasing horror in a small town through a detective’s work is offbeat but it’s all made so funny here. The creator promises to make more specific to the show plot developments even though the first season was very general to welcome new viewers in. Look for season 2 and get ready to laugh as this hilarious show goes through its comical paces.
