Justin Chon’s Next Film Project Set For Amazon

Acclaimed filmmaker Justin Chon has lined up his next movie, Night Riders, with Amazon Prime Video.

Justin Chon will be making his latest film, Night Riders, for Amazon Prime Video. Chon will be writing and directing the project. Chon was the man behind one of last year’s very best films, Blue Bayou, which was criminally under-seen in theaters but has, nevertheless, found an appreciative audience through streaming services.

Night Riders will be a crime picture set in Hawaii and the premise will surround two friends who are like brothers but their relationship becomes challenged through a series of dramatic events that could forever alter their lives. Set in the not-too-distant future, Chon will also be producing the movie that is based on Chon’s own unique idea. Chon is consistently an original voice in film and his work is full of passion and fury.

Chon has another upcoming project that he is currently working on called Jamojaya. It is an independent film about a rapper which is in post-production. That picture is sure to stir up interest coming on the heels of Chon’s much adored Blue Bayou.

Last year’s gem, Blue Bayou, was a powerful and very emotional movie that made Chon a major force to contend with in the movie world. Although it only grossed a less than stellar $788,000 domestically, it co-starred Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) opposite Chon as two lovers who must confront the fact that Chon’s character in the picture is unfairly getting deported. That picture was the subject of controversy because of its premise which may have held viewers back from going to see it. The film, however, is absolutely amazing and is so emotional. Recent streaming viewers are discovering how deeply moving it is and recommending the film to their friends in droves.

The very versatile Chon is also known for the 2017 dramatic black-and-white picture, Gook, which played at the Sundance Film Festival. Centered around the 1992 L.A. Rodney King riots, that picture did extremely well with critics and currently holds a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It proved definitively that Chon is not afraid of tackling difficult subject matter in a mature and sensitive way.

Chon’s fans are eagerly anticipating Night Riders to see how Chon does with a more suspenseful thriller type of film. He’s already got dramatic pictures down pat if his terrific work on Gook and Blue Bayou is any indication. Chon is, without a doubt, a filmmaker to keep an eye on and he has proven that he has what it takes to become a major voice in American cinema.
