NO HARD FEELINGS (2023): Matthew Broderick Joins Jennifer Lawrence in Upcoming R-Rated Comedy Movie

Matthew Broderick Close Up

Matthew Broderick To Return to the Screen in Upcoming Comedy

Matthew Broderick has been cast in a key supporting role in the forthcoming Jennifer Lawrence movie, No Hard Feelings.

Matthew Broderick will be making a rare major big studio screen appearance in the upcoming 2023 Jennifer Lawrence romantic comedy, No Hard Feelings. The highly anticipated Sony movie is going to be directed by Gene Stupnitsky (Good Boys) who also co-wrote the screenplay. Broderick was once a young superstar in the 1980’s when he made the smash hit 1983 action film, WarGames as well as the 1986 John Hughes comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He is also known for live theater roles such as his starring part in the acclaimed play, Brighton Beach Memoirs.

For the aforementioned 1986 John Hughes movie, Broderick scored a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for a comedy or musical. While his performance in that film was light as air, playing the likable Ferris Bueller who takes a day off from high school, Broderick wowed audiences yet again in 1999 when he played a more mature role. Broderick starred as a high school teacher opposite Reese Witherspoon (who played one of his students) in the intelligent Alexander Payne dark comedy, Election. That movie remains one of the actor’s most adored movies since Broderick and Witherspoon’s characters faced off with hysterical results in the picture.

More recently, Broderick has been seen on Broadway playing a role with his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker, in Neil Simon’s hit, Plaza Suite. Broderick also had a movie at Tribeca called To Dust and starred in the animated Wonder Park which is no surprise being that Broderick did substantial voice over work as Simba in 1994’s animated box-office smash hit, The Lion King.

It’s no surprise that No Hard Feelings is a New York-set comedy because Broderick is a true-blue New Yorker who is known for his dedication to doing theater and film work in the Big Apple. In the new picture, Broderick will serve as the husband of Laura Benanti’s character and the cast also showcases the intriguing actor, Andrew Barth Feldman in one of the picture’s principal roles.

Broderick did many other types of films such as 1987’s chimpanzee drama, Project X, and 1988’s stagey Torch Song Trilogy. Broderick is one of the most versatile actors of his generation and remains a star who will always be known best for his comedic work. His characterization of Ferris Bueller and his part in 1996’s Sony Jim Carrey movie, The Cable Guy, were perhaps two of his biggest film roles of all-time. Broderick will be working with Sony again in No Hard Feelings and raunchy comedy fans can’t wait to see the new Jennifer Lawrence starring vehicle!
