Rose Byrne Nabs Best Actress From the National Board of Review While ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER Wins Best Picture

Rose Byrne Wins Best Actress from the National Board of Review
Rose Byrne has won another award, this one from the National Board of Review, for her work in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You while One Battle After Another secured Best Picture again.
The National Board of Review made their choices for the best of 2025 and Rose Byrne, once again, was selected by an organization as the Best Actress of the year for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Also, One Battle After Another added another Best Picture win to its collection of prizes as it was selected as 2025’s best film by the NBR. Paul Thomas Anderson secured Best Director for his work on the movie. The other movies which were named the best of the year were: F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Jay Kelly, Marty Supreme, Rental Family, Sinners, Train Dreams, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Wicked: For Good.
Best Actor went to Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another and, for the same film, Benicio Del Toro scored the Best Supporting Actor honor. Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas won Best Supporting Actress and is Oscar-bound for her turn in the great Sentimental Value which was chosen as one of the best international films of the year. Eva Victor earned an award for the Best Directorial Debut for Sorry, Baby. Chase Infiniti of One Battle After Another was named Best Breakthrough Performer.
It Was Just an Accident was deemed the best international film of the year and Arco was named the Best Animated Feature of the year. Sinners won awards for its screenplay and cinematography. If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and Sorry, Baby were among the best independent films of the year, according to the National Board of Review. Both of those films had a good day with the Independent Spirit Award nominations which declared both movies strong as they were on the list of the year’s nominated films in different categories.
The National Board of Review is a prestigious organization which typically predicts some of the films that will go on to receive Best Picture nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Rose Byrne’s win was particularly noteworthy because it came from a film that wasn’t especially a box-office hit, but the work by Byrne was still recognized for the quality performance that it was.
The Best Picture Oscar race seems to be between four movies at this point: One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, Sinners and Avatar: Fire and Ash. Some people have declared that One Battle After Another is going to win, but don’t forget that the Academy loves an upset and Sinners winning could be just that type of upset! Rose Byrne seems to have a lock on Best Actress at this particular point in time!
