The full-lipped beauty Victorya Brandart has worked more behind the camera with her expertise in production.

But this is no surprise at all. The successful Romanian model and performer has an advanced degree in organizational management to supplement her Bachelor’s degree in psychology. This education she has put to practice in a wide array of industry functions Stateside since arriving in 1998. She has pitched in as casting director, line producer, even as a stunt performer.

Not that Ms. Brandart doesn’t have some prime acting portrayals under her belt. In addition to The Raven, she has a part in the upcoming thriller Deep State, not to mention her three roles for projects in post-production. She had initially garnered attention as 18-year-old Emma in Hustle Down. Most recently, however, She shouldered two important spots on both sides of the camera, as the female lead Marie Sullivan and producer in The Institute (2022).

As for the the plot of The Raven itself, it remains under wraps; not so much as a logline is available, much less a synopsis, which is common enough with projects in any phase of production. On the other hand, Gregori Martin himself is high profile. He has proven himself a major exponent in the industry, especially the television media with more than a few Emmy noms and wins under his belt. And like Ms. Brandart, he is comfortable wearing a number of hats as he works, but specifically acting, writing, directing and producing.

Of some interest, Martin did direct a vampire/action feature entitled Raven, released in 2010 by GruntWorks Entertainment, but according to reliable sources he served in no other capacity. There is no indication that Martin’s current production is in any way connected; but the handful of photos available hints at something mysterious and other-worldly.

Ms. Brandart now joins with venerable cast members such as Tony Todd and Rae Dawn Chong. Tony Todd has carved an indelible reputation, particularly in the genres of horror and science fiction as the titular Candyman and William Bludworth in the Final Destination franchise to name a few. Rae Dawn Chong counts triumphs in independent films as well as blockbusters like Quest for Fire and The Color Purple, singled out for praise by Roger Ebert in the Duplass Brothers’ Jeff, Who Lives at Home.

Some of Gregori Martin’s proven regulars from The Bay have also joined the cast as well, among them Kristos Andrews, Celeste Fianna, Precious V. Mayes, Andrew Cereghino, and Dante Aleksander. Martin has also recruited cinematographer Will Barratt (Frozen) from that series, as well as editor Matt Taff, who does wonders with run times of well under 30 minutes.

Filming is only in its early stages, and no release date has yet been given. But whatever journey The Raven finally takes, it promises to be an engaging one and likely well worth the wait.
