Latest Nicolas Cage Film Sold to Saban Films

Nicolas Cage has a future movie coming out called Butcher’s Crossing which has just been acquired by Saban Films.

Nicolas Cage is still working hard with some more upcoming projects ahead. One such project is Butcher’s Crossing which showcases Cage as a buffalo hunter. It is a frontier epic. Filmmaker Gabe Polsky is directing the new movie. The deal with Saban Films that has recently been set will include rights to the Cage film in North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

Gabe Polsky is known for his documentary Red Penguins. He is both writing and directing the new Cage picture. Polsky is adapting the script which is based on a novel by John Williams. Cage’s Saturn Films will co-produce the film alongside some some other companies while Ingenious Media will be financing the new movie which will start shooting this fall.

This upcoming picture will be set in the 1870’s and pairs Cage’s character with a young former Harvard student who looks for salvation in the Colorado wilderness. It is a film about a personal journey in which two people sacrifice everything for the possibility of happiness.

The Saban Films chief Bill Bromiley believes Cage will excel in this role which pushes the boundaries of human survival. According to sources, Bromiley believes that Polsky did a fine job adapting the book from its source material and he’s excited to be a part of this project.

While Cage earned accolades for Pig which could lead to another Oscar nomination, he’s still making quirky offbeat pictures as well. He plays none other than himself in another upcoming film called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Cage alternates between prestige projects such as Pig and more risky films such as the just released Prisoners of the Ghostland. Butcher’s Crossing seems to be on the more prestigious side of the movies he chooses and many people are highly anticipating this new project. The novel it was based on was originally published in 1960. The author of it also goes by the name of John Edward Williams and is not to be confused with John Williams the legendary music composer.

Saban Films is also behind the upcoming Ida Red which is an exciting new film featuring Josh Hartnett. Remember him? Ida Red is a very intriguing film and will definitely be one of the studio’s more high profile releases.

Cage seems to have no intentions of retiring anytime soon and Butcher’s Crossing will be a most welcome addition to his already varied and mostly prestigious resume.
