ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER Wins 1st Ever Best Casting Oscar
One Battle After Another Wins Best Casting Oscar
One Battle After Another has earned the first-ever Academy Award for Best Casting as the early portion of the Oscars has winded down.
One Battle After Another reigned triumphant at the Academy Awards tonight in the category of Best Casting where it competed with the likes of Best Picture nominees, Hamnet, The Secret Agent, Sinners and Marty Supreme. This was the first-ever award presented in the category of Best Casting at the Oscars. Meanwhile, the Best Supporting acting performers were announced as well as the Best Screenplay categories.
Amy Madigan won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her spooky turn in the 2025 summer horror movie blockbuster, Weapons. This win was widely predicted ever since Madigan won the Critics Choice honors in that category earlier this year. In the Best Supporting Actor category, the winner tonight was Sean Penn for One Battle After Another. Penn wasn’t in attendance to receive his honor which many had anticipated he would receive tonight.
Other awards that were presented thus far included wins from Netflix films. KPop Demon Hunters won for Best Animated Feature Film and Frankenstein took home two Oscars tonight for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Key takeaways from the Oscars so far is that the Academy seems to love One Battle After Another. Sinners is going to have to fight to win for Best Picture tonight and we’ll see if the majority of votes were, indeed, placed for Sinners in the category of Best Picture which is going to be the last category of the night.
Conan O’Brien has been doing a gangbusters job so far and came on to the scene tonight with a wig like the one Amy Madigan donned in Weapons as well as the makeup and lipstick Madigan’s character wore as well. The opening spoofed the bit with the running kids from Weapons as well. Conan O’Brien reenacted a scene from the classic film, Casablanca, with Sterling K. Brown. It was a humorous moment within the show that stood out significantly. O’Brien has been cracking one-liners in style tonight and is expected to carry the show through the rest of the night succesfully.
Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplay winners were Sinners and One Battle After Another. Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another) thanked his family and won an award that is one of a couple he is expected to receive tonight. Many think he’s a lock for Best Director. Ryan Coogler won for Sinners in the Best Original Screenplay category and it’s now a fight for Best Director between Coogler and Anderson as the night winds down and soon gets to the major categories.
