THE MOVIE CRITIC: Quentin Tarantino’s Promised Final Film Project is Now a “No-Go”

Quentin Tarantino On Set

The Movie Critic is Cancelled by Director Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino has decided not to make The Movie Critic which was going to be the acclaimed director’s final film.

Last year, Pulp Fiction director, Quentin Tarantino, said he was going to make his 10th (and final) film a project called The Movie Critic. For now, the filmmaker has decided against making that movie, period. He is still probably going to make a 10th picture. It just will not be The Movie Critic.

What does all this mean for Tarantino fans? Is there still hope for another installment of Kill Bill? As of now, there are no definitive answers as to what picture Tarantino will replace The Movie Critic with. That once promised movie was supposed to be about a film critic for a porno magazine but has been given a pass by Tarantino for now in favor of what exactly, you ask? Nobody really knows at this particular time.

Brad Pitt, Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor for Tarantino’s own 2019 gem, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, was supposed to be featured prominently in The Movie Critic. That, too, will obviously not be happening as the project has been scrapped. Pitt fans are obviously disappointed in that particular regard.

Tarantino is one of the greatest living filmmakers so the fact that Tarantino has left his chosen project in favor of another one bodes well for fans who want to see him do something great and go out with a bang if he does choose to retire. The director has supposedly been wanting to retire for a bit of time now but he also still wants to make another picture. Many of his followers want another Kill Bill movie even though Tarantino seems to have moved on from that possibility.

While Tarantino’s history of movie-making has had its up and downs, the 2019 Hollywood film he made garnered several major Oscar nominations, including the nod for Pitt who took home the gold. Tarantino probably wants to do something on that level again and The Movie Critic seemed a bit limited in scope considering its bare bones basic premise.

When Tarantino came on to the scene with a vengeance with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, he was automatically crowned a master of his craft. Though Pulp Fiction lost the Best Picture Oscar to Forrest Gump, some say Pulp Fiction is actually the better film. The big surprise is that many think The Shawshank Redemption should have actually won that year which would have placed Pulp Fiction second even if Gump lost and got bumped to third place. Let’s hope Tarantino can choose a 10th film which would win him a Best Director Oscar or at least get him nominated again!
