Celine Dion In Support Of Documentary Film Project About Her Life

Global music sensation Celine Dion has given a new untitled upcoming documentary on her life her full support.

When Celine Dion performed “My Heart Will Go On” which was featured in the 1997 mega-hit Titanic, she won the hearts of music and movie fans across the country and around the world. Not that she wasn’t already a great performer before that but that film showcased her talents to the film world more successfully than any other project. The French-Canadian performer is in support of Sony Music Entertainment’s forthcoming documentary about her life. This self proclaimed “definitive” documentary feature on Celine Dion will be directed by Oscar-nominated movie-maker Irene Taylor of Hear and Now fame. That 2007 picture had won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

This upcoming documentary will chronicle the singer’s life story which will include her career highlights such as her huge album releases and music tours around the world. What’s most interesting about this news is that it almost immediately follows the acquisition of a movie biopic “loosely based” on Dion’s life by Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions. That film is called Aline.

In 1996, Celine Dion’s song “Because You Loved Me” was successfully featured in the Robert Redford/Michelle Pfeiffer love story Up Close & Personal. Two years after Titanic, Dion performed a song called “Then You Look At Me” which was on the soundtrack of Bicentennial Man, the 1999 Robin Williams picture. Although that picture did not have Titanic size box-office numbers, audiences for that 1999 film loved the movie which played the Dion song at the end and awarded the picture an “A-” CinemaScore grade. Dion’s songs enhanced emotions of viewers whenever it would play in a motion picture and Dion’s music outside of the movies has always been powerful and, in many cases, uplifting as well.

Dion has always been upfront and honest about her life with fans and was devastated when she lost her husband, Rene Angelil, back in 2016 to cancer. The couple was married for 21 years.

Dion began her career as a singer back when she was 14 years old. She has sold more than a quarter billion albums over a career which has spanned four decades. She earned two Academy Awards during that time as well as many other prestigious awards. The pandemic interfered with some of her touring but she will resume her Courage world tour in 2022.

The upcoming documentary will be made by Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content division. The studio is thrilled to be able to tell Dion’s story, according to sources.

Celine Dion has been a talent to be reckoned with for so long that her fans consist of those of all ages. Many movie fans have discovered her music through watching Titanic and this upcoming documentary is going to be one of the most highly anticipated documentaries of all-time.
