HALLOWEEN ENDS (2022): Upcoming Horror Film to Show in Theaters and Stream on Peacock Immediately Upon its Release

Jamie Lee Curtis With Gun Halloween Ends

Halloween Ends Will Offer Viewing Choices Upon its Release

The eagerly awaited sequel, Halloween Ends, will showcase the possible end of Michael Myers, and viewers will be able to choose how to watch it–either at home on Peacock or in theaters.

Jamie Lee Curtis will be back in the part that defined the typical “scream queen” role in traditional horror films. That’s right, Halloween Ends, will be coming out this October and fans have marked the date on their calendars already which is October 14th, to be precise. Universal Pictures is most likely expecting a box-office smash for the much anticipated potential conclusion to a series which has had some ups and downs but, nevertheless, stood strong while other franchises simply vanished into oblivion. Does Freddy or Jason ring a bell? Not too much these days.

Michael Myers is one of the most interesting horror movie villains of all-time and is the type of character we want to see face off with Jamie Lee Curtis on the big screen. Especially around Halloween time. Last year, Halloween Kills came out on streaming and in theaters at the same time and was quite a success. It made an astonishing $92 million at the domestic box-office and despite some fans who felt cheated, most people will be returning to theaters to see the conclusion of the long-running horror movie franchise.

AMC Theatres has made a commitment to showing Halloween Ends on the big screen where it belongs. Other theater chains are expected to follow suit. It is the type of movie that can cause crowds to cheer and boo wherever appropriate during certain sections of the film. Case in point: Halloween Kills got just a “B-” CinemaScore and audience reaction was considerably divided. But, seeing these types of movies with others enhances the experience if a viewer wants that particular experience. If that viewer does not, then Peacock will suffice.

Jamie Lee Curtis is coming off some great reviews for her work in the A24 masterpiece, Everything Everywhere All at Once and I, for one, would like to see her nominated for a Best Supporting Actress nod for that picture. Halloween Ends could remind Oscar voters that the terrific performance in the A24 gem was this year, for their consideration, of course.

Halloween Ends will be showing on Peacock for those who are uninterested in seeing what others think and getting the “full” horror movie experience by heading out to theaters. But, by giving us viewers a choice, Universal has done the noble thing here. After all, some people won’t be able to handle Michael Myers back on the big screen with a crowd. But, then again, others may be too frightened to watch it alone on Peacock so may just head to the theater to see it. It’s the beauty of having the freedom to choose where to watch it that makes it all worthwhile.
