Weekend Impressions

Wonder Woman will be the Number One film at the box office this weekend. It made $103.2 Million last weekend. Because of Wonder Woman‘s positive word-of-mouth, it will not be enduring a huge drop at the box office this weekend, maybe less than half. If Wonder Woman makes $60-70 Million this weekend, that should be enough to subdue the entry of The Mummy.

If The Mummy opens to $70 Million or above, The Mummy will be Number One at the box office this weekend. The reviews for The Mummy have been mixed to negative so I don’t see the film opening over $80 Million. After this weekend, after the curious have seen the newest incarnation of The Mummy, the film will lose more than half of its audience in its second weekend. In addition, The Mummy will have to contend with Cars 3 and All Eyez on Me in theater next weekend.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie will be Third at the box office this weekend.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be Fourth at the box office this weekend.

It Comes at Night will premiere in Fifth place this weekend. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 falling below $9 Million this weekend, survival horror film It Comes at Night will be able to debut in the Top Five. It Comes at Night stars Joel Edgerton and has been getting good reviews, including from FilmBook writer Mufsin Mahbub. You can read Mufsin’s review for It Comes at Night here.
